National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation: Chevy Chase reunites with cast at Christmas Con 2023

The cast of one of the most beloved Christmas movies next to Home Alone made featured appearances at this year’s Christmas Con in New Jersey.

It’s that time of year when popular Christmas movies are marathoned on television. By now, you are either on your millionth viewing or you’re absolutely sick of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, as the Chevy Chase holiday sequel is a renowned classic that is played every year along with movies like Home Alone, Home Alone 2, A Christmas Story and The Santa Clause. The movie is a family-friendlier entry for the Vacation series that brought John Hughes back to combine his famous Griswold tribe with his penchant for holiday films.

According to People, Christmas Con 2023 has recently jingled its way to Edison, New Jersey. This year, Chevy Chase headlined a reunion with his co-stars from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. The Clark Griswold actor joined his on-screen wife, Beverly D’Angelo, Cousin Eddie actor Randy Quaid and Miriam Flynn, who portrayed Eddie’s wife in the three Vacation films in which they appeared. Chase would make his appearance just days after he fell off the stage at Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, New York, before a talk about the holiday film.

Chase made a bit out of his accident as he was escorted on stage in a wheelchair to big applause. He stood up and greeted the crowd while inching his way to the edge of the stage, then executed another fall. His wife, Jayni, and the panel’s host would help him back to his chair. Chase, settled in and joked, “Wait wait, my watch is talking to me. It says, ‘I see you’ve taken a great fall! … Taken a hard fall.’” Chase’s wife got up to reconfigure his watch and added to the joke, “Otherwise they might send an ambulance.” Juliette Lewis, who played the film’s incarnation of Audrey Griswold, was initially announced to make an appearance but had to cancel due to scheduling conflicts.

Last year, Christmas Con featured appearances by a list of stars from the many Christmas movies that plays on Hallmark, Lifetime and GAF. This included Andrew Walker, Nikki DeLoach, Paul Campbell, Danica McKellar and Autumn Reeser. They joined Mean Girls costars Lacey Chabert and Jonathan Bennett. This year, Chase and the Christmas Vacation cast got to take a photo with Jonathan Bennett, Lacey Chabert, Wes Brown, Alicia Witt, Erin Cahill, Steve Lund, Cindy Busby and Nikki DeLoach.
