About Strum Magazine
Strum Magazine is an independent digital magazine covering Classical Music, Guitars, Artists, Reviews and Music. Guitars sound different depending on who is holding them, which is most of what Strum Magazine is about. It is part of VUGA Network, a group of independent digital publications published in the United States.
About Strum Magazine
The magazine is written for players deciding where limited money goes, and for listeners who want the playing explained inside the song. Gear is judged after it has been played, not unboxed: an amp is described at bedroom volume and at stage volume, a pickup by what it does to the low strings, a set of strings by how they sound in week three.
What We Cover
Music takes in the genres string instruments shaped — blues, folk, country, bluegrass, rock, flamenco and the places they cross — attending to tunings, voicings, rhythmic feel and the recordings that define each style. Guitars covers instruments and everything in the signal path: body woods and construction, pickups, amplifiers, pedals, strings, plus setup, intonation and repair, with advice that distinguishes changes that alter tone from changes that only alter price. Artists profiles players through their hands and their rigs — picking technique, tunings, phrasing, amplifier settings — and interviews stay on craft, including practice routines and what a player would change. Reviews delivers argued verdicts on gear tested across weeks and volumes and on records assessed for playing and production, with price part of every judgment. Music News reports releases, tour routings, festival bills and new instruments with prices and shipping dates where a manufacturer has given them, while Business News tracks builders, retailers and a vintage market where prices behave strangely.
Specification sheets copied from a manufacturer are not a review, endorsement deals are disclosed wherever they exist, and prices are current at the time of writing, stated in dollars.
